2. Kompanie News Archive - 2019
4.30.2019 - Update 27. What's Next in 2019?
Guten Tag!
Thank you for checking back in with us! We are just now returning from a successful event at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri. This was our first event of 2019 as SS-Totenkopf.
The Demjansk event we normally attend in February was cancelled this year. Later that month we attended Siegfried Line in Waverly, TN, portraying members of the US 28th Infantry Division and the German 272. Fusilier-Kompanie.
At Jefferson Barracks we had over 25 members of 2. Kompanie in attendance, and a record number of recruits, a total of 11. Many of these new faces are veteran reenactors, and we look forward to them joining the 2. Kompanie family.
Instead of doing our Operation Barbarossa impression for Jefferson Barracks, instead we did an impression based on the units appearance at Kursk in 1943. This will be the impression we use for the duration of the year at Peoria and Lockport.

3.10.2019 - UPDATE 26. THE WWII CAMPAIGNER
Guten Tag!
This past year has been an excellent one for WWII Re-enacting and 2. Kompanie. "Campaigning" a style of re-enacting taken from the American Civil War period, has seen a revitalization in WWII, with 2. Kompanie at the center.
In the past 6 months, we have attended and helped to co-ordinate two seperate campaigner style immersion events; portraying soldiers on both sides. One event was a re-creation of the fighting in Aachen in October 1944, the other was a re-creation of the action within the Hurtgen Forest on the Siegfried Line in November 1944.
The purpose of The WWII Campaigner is to help foster the creation of better events for re-enactors to attend. Events hosted by The WWII Campaigner will feature a historically accurate scenario, and will require specific impression guidelines for each side. In addition a singular chain of command is used, fostering the building of relationships between units all coming together under one guise to portray one unit for an event, with one ultimate goal: to make the most authentic experience possible.
2. Kompanie is proud to be affiliated with The WWII Campaigner.

Battle for AachenOctober 5-7, 2018
Youngstown, OH IMPRESSIONS: US: K. Company, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division German: 29. Panzergreandier Rgt./ 3. Panzergrenadier-Division ----------------------- This is a full immersion campaigner event, it is NOT a tactical. It combines high authenticity standards, with living history and combat scenarios, taking you as close to experiencing history as is possible. The goal is to immerse ourselves as accurately as possible into every aspect of life of the common soldier that was fighting around Aachen in 1944. This means eating period correct rations, sleeping in a fox hole dug by you and your buddies or on the concrete floor of a bombed out factory, receiving mail or chow, keeping yourself occupied during periods of inactivity, pulling guard shifts in an OP or forward area, writing letters, shaving, using all that cool pocket litter and period personal items you have stuffed in your bags or pockets, making regular activity reports to command, operating under the command of an officer or NCO and following period tactics. |
Here is some footage taken by Signal Corps Photographers at the Battle of Aachen, following the men of the "Big Red One".

The main focus is on the often overlooked, daily monotonous routine of life at the front. Living day to day, in the trenches, resupply missions, bringing food, water, ammo to forward positions and relieving squads, digging new positions, setting up communications with forward positions, ration cooking, etc. |
