2. Kompanie as SS-VT-Standarte 1. "Deutschland"
2. Kompanie began portraying men from the VT-Regiment "Deutschland" during the Summer of 2014. We portray this formation during it's participation in the Invasion of France in 1940. Later this regiment would become the first Panzergrenadier Regiment in the 2.SS "Das Reich" Division, that would fight on the Eastern Front for the majority of the war.
During the Invasion of France, the Regiment was part of what was then known as the SS-VT-Division, or SS-Verfugungs-Division, which was formed from the Pre-war cadre of the SS-Verfugungstruppe, which was the first SS combat formation outside of the LSSAH, Hitler's personal guard.
For this impression, the main change from our standard 1940 France "Totenkopf" impression was the use of different insignia. As far as uniforms and equipment was concerned, the men of the SS-VT-Division were outfitted very similarly to the men of the SS-Totenkopf-Division, our primary impression.
Men from the SS-VT wore collar tabs with the number of the regiment stitched on, in front of the SS runes, which can be clearly seen in the photos below. For this impression we also wear cufftitles with "Deutschland" in Gothic script. We also wear shoulderboard slips and cyphers, which feature the Gothic 'D' for the regiment's name sake.
This is an impression we really enjoyed doing, so expect to see it again in the future! If you would like to see photos of us doing this impression take a look here.
