Stephen Baxter, from Bremen was born in 1895. However, there is little information regarding his life prior to his enlistment in 1938. Although according to records, he was a member of Infanterie Regiment 93, during The Great War.
He enlisted in the SS in 1938 and was assigned to the SS-Totenkopfverbande because of his age. He would be assigned to Dachau, to serve with SS-Totenkopfstandarte 1. In 1939 he would follow his unit on it's rampage through Poland.
Following the Campaign in Poland, he was part of the cadre of men to form the SS-Division "Totenkopf". During the training he showed excellent skill as a marksman, and became a sniper.
Heading into France, to fight in his second war, he meant to put his rifle and scope to good use.
