Franz Xavier Seibold was born 12 September 1923 in Reut, Germany. Born to a Policeman father and a seamstress mother. Both were extremely Catholic and traditional. His father served as a Munich Police man during WWI.
Franz worked as a Farm hand and in the local radio office repairing telephones. He also was a semi well-known local boxer, and won titles in Realschule.
In January 1938, Franz joined the SS Totenkopfverbände and was assigned to SS Totenkopfverbände “Oberbayern” Regiment, F Block at KZ Lager Dachau, reporting to Unterscharfuhrer Berles. From February 1938 to March 1939 Franz remained at F Block. In March 1939, Berles was promoted to Rapportfuhrer der KZL, and Franz was promoted to Unterscharfuhrer and moved to D Block. From March 1939 to September 1939 Franz remained at Dachau.
In September 1939, Franz and the rest of Regiment “Oberbayern” were sent into Poland. Their stay in Poland was marked with little incident until the night of 18 September when Franz was caught in a Non SS Totenkopfverbände brothel. Upon hearing the feldgendarmerie were coming, Franz smashed a bottle of Champaign and charged out the door. When confronted by the feldgendarmerie, Franz assaulted them, knocking one to the ground and punching the other into a shop window. For this action, Franz was stripped of his rank and sentenced to 6 months to a year in a penal battalion.
However, less than a month later in October 1939, Franz was requested by Standartenoberjunker Zopf to serve in 2 Kompanie, SSTK-Infantry-Regiment 1 of the new SSTK division. Franz returned to Dachau and began combat training with 2 Kompanie, on probation, he distinguished himself as a strong leader.
In April 1940, Franz was promoted to Sturmmann and given the position of TruppenFuhrer. He and the rest of 2. Kompanie were sent into France on 17 May 1940.
