Waldemar Rifkogel born in Sarstedt January 7, 1913. He was the son of a merchant.

In October 1934, he joined the Polizei, which by the end of 1936 was transferred to the Schutzpolizei.

With the onset of World War II, he was sent to Poland as part of Schutzpolizei. From the beginning of the Campaign in France, he was a member of the SS-Polizei-Division of the SS.

In August 1941, he was the platoon commander in the 10. Kompanie, of the 2.SS-Polizei-Infanterie-Regiment.

He took courses at the Wehrmacht Panzerschule Wunsdorf. In the end of 1942, he became the commander of the 1. Kompanie, and in 1944 - 2. Kompanie of the 3.SS-Panzer-Regiment, 3.SS-Panzer-Division "Totenkopf".

In March 1943, distinguished himself in the battles of Chugueva, and on 11. July, 1943 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.



On July 28, 1944 was wounded in battle east of Warsaw, and  at the dressing station, handed over his company's last words: "Say hello to my brave company. Now SS-Obersturmfiihrer Gramm will lead you into battle, as I did. " 

A few hours later he died, of his wounds, a brave commander.
